A fusion of Polish and Greek cultures

South Africa really is a potpourri of cultures and traditions. A heady mix of European, African and Eastern cultures all blended in a rainbow nation, that is unique. And Saturday’s wedding was a perfect example – a joining of Greek and Polish cultures and traditions in an action packed, helter-skelter wedding day.

Mark and Dina planned this day meticulously, for 8 months, and it all came together in a nervously energetic fusion of cultures and style. Now you have to know that Mark and Dina dated for some 9 years before deciding to marry, and naturally, they would not leave their wedding day to chance. And so it was, that every detail and nuance was planned, considered and executed with perfect precision.

Bride and Groom spent a nervous morning getting ready and perfecting their look and photos4africa was there to capture it all. Mark and Dina posed for us all day long with grace and style, even suggesting locations and poses for us to use.

When the ceremony ended, the heavens opened and delivered a typical Johannesburg thunderstorm, which is of course a good omen for a marriage. And when the rain stopped and the confetti was thrown we all sped off to the Sandton Sun to celebrate the wedding with gusto.

Lavishly decorated the reception hall reflected Mark and Dina’s tastes and attention to detail and when they entered the room the party really got going. Of course there had to be Greek dancing and, true to form, it was spectacular, energetic and enervating.

Way, way into the night we finally packed away our cameras and left Mark and Dina to their party which was showing no signs of letting up. We had a great day, got some fantastic photographs and enjoyed our work. Here’s a small selection of photos from the day. Enjoy them.
